Spyderco Manix2 Black G-10 Black Blade PlainEdge Knife

Awesome Knife

I loved the Manix2 regular knife and this knife just takes it to the next level. The Black coating really makes it look great. The knife I received was supposed to have 154CM Steel, but mine arrived with a slightly better steel, CPMS30V to be specific. This is a premium steel that has great corrosion resistance and holds an edge longer than 154CM (which itself isn’t bad at all) While the knife is what I consider a large knife it is clearly very high quality and feels great in the hand. This is the knife that I EDC when I have jeans on, but it is a little to heavy for chinos. This is a great knife and it is Made in the USA!!

When you can’t decide…

I’ve spent hours researching which Spyderco’s would be the best EDC for me and finally decided to take the plunge and get Manix2 in Black. I own several Spyderco’s: Tenacious, Ambitious, Meerkat. This one is by far the best made and feels like a quality knife. I know that it is 3x the price of a Tenacious, but the blade quality (S30v vs 8cr13mov), ball-lock, and the G10 scales makes it a much better quality knife. Don’t get me wrong, the Tenacious and Ambitious are very nice products. However, the Manix 2 (with S30v) is a substantial upgrade in terms of build quality, materials, and overall ergonomics. Well worth the extra money spent.

Ordered this and Sage 1 at same time…

Colorado vs. Taiwan! A very hard choice!

Seriously, they’re very different knives. I tend to prefer heavy bladed knives like the Manix. I do like this very much as fit & finish are excellent. I wish it had a FFG but the sabre grind is stronger (the point anyway) and very sharp for this type of grind. The grip is terrific. Not short handled like the Sage 1 is or a similar sized Tenacious (similar to the Manix). I definitely prefer to the Manix XL — that is too thick and sticks way out of pocket. The all black finish is very well done — the liners can’t even be seen. Love the black clip. A serious “little” knife. But it is a bit heavy — the same weight as the XL in fact. This is in part because the liners are not milled. That’s too bad. If it were an ounce lighter and had a thick FFG, this would be five stars. Lock works very well for righties and lefties. Good price — got at about $95. S30V.

The Sage 1 is only a bit shorter but very…
