Stylish, easy to clean, and encourage me to drink more water
I bought these after realizing that a drink a lot more water in restaurants than I do at home — all because of the straw.
So far, I’ve really enjoyed having these straws (though I admit to only using one of the four so far). As others have noted, they’re quite durable – so I’m not too worried about breaking them. I’m also thrilled that they’re made in the U.S. and not China.
You may notice that these straws come in two widths. I’m glad I bought the smaller of the two versions. I think the larger version would feel a bit weird to drink out of.
FYI – one of the four straws comes with a cleaning brush, so there’s no need to buy that separately (as the Amazon recommendations would leave you to believe).
Why didn’t I get these sooner?
I first read about these straws on Bonzai Aphrodite, and at first I was apprehensive to shell out this much for straws. They are luxurious, and wonderful. They come with a brush to clean the straws, and they are sturdy, made of the same glass that Pyrex is made of. I got the smaller size of the two, and they are about the size of a thick straw from a fast food joint. My kids love them, too.
Took a While to Appreciate Them!
When I first rec’d these stars, I really wondered what the heck I was thinking, spending $40 for 4 glass straws. It seemed pretty frivolous (& expensive!) to me. I almost returned them. In addition, I had purchased them specifically for my Nektar Plastic Beverage Cups (the straws that came w/the cups are thin & fragile & break easily). However, these straws were too wide and didn’t fit thru the opening in the lid. THEN I started making smoothies again, with my Big Boss Blender, and the lids to the cups that came w/the Big Boss have openings for straws, and THESE straws fit those openings PERFECTLY! Plus they are wide enough, that if there are chunks of smoothy that didn’t get well-blended, the chunks (banana, chia seed clumps, mango, etc) still can fit thru the straws. One thing, tho, is that these straws are HARD, so you have to get used to covering your teeth w/your lips when you put the straw in your mouth; if not, you might bang the straw against your teeth, and I think there is…
